Elgato EyeTV W Mobile TV Hotspot Review – An excellent device

First of all, I would like to thank Julian from Elgato in sending me this product for review!
It can be purchased on AmazonUK for around £60 & AmazonUSA.

Elgato EyeTV W - Packaging

Here’s my video review of it:

I found the Elgato EyeTV W a really nice addition to my collection of gadgets. It’s something that I would take with me on a camping trip, or be inclined to give my my little cousin, to watch TV in the car, whilst I drive.
The device comes with a few things:
-A small antenna for on-the-go use
-A larger antenna, with a long wire, used to receive a stronger signal
-An adapter used for connecting your EyeTV W to your home’s antenna, and thus using the device as a means of streaming TV to your mobile/tablet.
-A Micro USB charging cable

I found the included package full and great for different uses. The large antenna, when I’m at work – the small antenna when I’m on the move and the adapter when I’m at home.

The battery life of the device was also reasonably good.
From a full charge (which took 2hrs from 0 to 100%), I got 4hrs30mins out of the device. That was a constant stream of live TV.

What further impressed me about the device was its ability to record live TV whilst you watch it.
The recording is saved on your device and is in a .mpg file.

Elgato EyeTV W - Streaming

Finally, the icing on the cake was the easy to use and very intuitive app that’s designed by Elgato. It’s a very easy app, that can be used by anyone and furthermore is extremely useful (ie to see what’s on TV and the information about shows).

Overall, I was really impressed with the EyeTV W, and would really suggest it for people looking for a portable TV hotspot, that does NOT use your data in order to stream TV to your device.

Just a few notes:
-You cannot connect more than one device to the dongle
-Google services should be turned off, in order to have the least interference with the service
-Your phone’s battery will be also drained, due to the constant usage of the phone’s Wi-Fi signal

Hope you enjoyed my review!

Perixx PX-5000 - Keys

First of all I would like to thank Perixx for sending me the keyboard for review. The keyboard can be found on AmazonUK for £70, and AmazonUSA for $100.
This is a US layout keyboard, despite being on Amazon UK. Perixx made me aware of this, prior to receiving the PX-5000. It actually didn’t bother me that much and I must say it worked flawlessly. If you do have problems with a US layout, then I suggest not buying it. Furthermore, you can always change the Windows keyboard layout to US if you so wish. I shall not be taking into account the US vs UK layout in this review, as I was aware of the US layout and I am indeed reviewing a US layout keyboard.
