A guide on how to recable the Denon AH-D2000 – Without any soldering involved!

Some of you might know, some time ago I set out to mod my Denon AH-D2000’s (D2K’s), and I started modding them by changing the cups, and then not too long ago, changing the pads on them; With these upgrades came: better comfort (pads), and a different (better) sound with the wood cups. However, each time I would want to pick up my D2K’s I would feel a little annoyed at its huge, tangle-prone wires – It was just too long, got self-tangled, twisted, and I had to actually tie up the wire as it was too long to just have lying around, even at home, on my desk.

Pictured is the new tangle-free D7K modded cable

I thus decided to go that further mile and recable them. I had the initial intention to solder these, as that’s what was said/talked about, across on the internet, but that very quickly changed to something else…

Before getting into this recabling guide, I would like to thank a few people:
-Matthew from Forza Audioworks for the soldering advice
-Austin from ZX Amateur Cables for his soldering advice
-User julianbell92 for the AWESOME help and guide on soldering the Denon’s
-Last but certainly not least, my dear father who helped me with the process, without him I could have never done this, as I didn’t have the guts nor knowledge to do it!

UE TF10 - 3 Cables

I would like to thank user “some1” for loaning me out his set of TF10’s and cables! His a truly stellar man; In fact I have, in the past bought 4 pair of Monoprice 8320’s from him! If you are actually interested in buying the 8320’s (best bang-for-buck earphones) then give me a shout, and I’ll forward you his email or send him a PM if you are a head-fier!

As said above, “some1” was kind enough in providing me with 3 separate cables to compare and contrast with, here they are:
Stock UE TF10 Cable (Standard black shiny-esk wire)
Chris_himself Silver Ray Cable (White braided with wooden splitters)
Jaben ES8 Cable (Black coloured braided wire)

After having the J$ pads and not being 100% satisfied, I went ahead and bought the Lawton Audio Angle Pads, to see what the difference was and if they would provide the same quality sound, but with the comfort that I had with the stock pads.

You can purchase them, directly from Lawton Audio – Over there you will find more info about them!
