Review of the Creative Sound Blaster E3 – A Versatile Portable Amp

Before getting into this review, I would like to thank Creative for sending me the E3 for review.
It can be found on their website and on AmazonUK for around £100 & AmazonUSA for $130.

For full specs – visit Creative’s website.

Creative E3 - Top view

The Sound Blaster E3 sits in-between the E1 and E5 in terms of price point. I was thus curious to see how it performs for its price and more so interested to see how Creative were able to push through all their features in the small-factor size, without impacting the sound quality.

Before continuing the review, here”s my video review of the E3:

Let’s get on with the review!

AKG Y50 - Pouch and headphones

I was very much intrigued when AKG released their latest headphones, the Y50 range. This for me was an interesting leap into portability by AKG – often you see audiophile brands such as AKG, sky away from these types of models, as they tend to be cheaper and therefore have quite shoddy sound quality.
I was thus looking forward to reviewing the Y50 and hoping this wasn’t the case with this particular line – I was also intrigued to see how it fairs against its more expensive brothers the AKG K551’s and the AKG K545’s which I’ve previously reviewed. The AKG Y50s can be bought for around £80 on AmazonUK & AmazonUSA for $100.

Unboxing, Pictures, Initial Impressions & Gain Switching Guide of the Just Audio µHA-120 Portable Amplifier

I got extremely lucky in picking up the µHA-120 in a audio-meet raffle in Cambridge! I also talked to the maker of the amp, whilst I was there, and was impressed with the quality and clarity that the amp provided for the price!

The Just Audio µHA-120 can be found to purchase from Analogue Seduction & Hifi Headphones for around £220.

The product information can be found directly on Just Audio’s website, where you’ll also find the PDF document showing the disassembly guide I go through in my video below.

Unboxing, Pictures & Initial Impressions of the Logitech K400 Wireless Keyboard

I bought this keyboard with the intention of using it in lectures at University, with my Samsung Galaxy S III.
I wanted something small, portable, and more so compatible.
The mouse was an added extra with the Logitech, over something like the HP TouchPad – Which I found might come in useful, especially seeing as I might want to edit some previous text I had entered, and more so for a small price difference.
I bought the Logitech K400 from Amazon UK for £28.80 & AmazonUSA for $25.

Here is my Unboxing Video:

Here are the pictures:

Initial Impressions
-Light keyboard
-Works great on the Samsung Galaxy S III
-Keyboard keys are soft on touch
-Mouse tracking is good
-Very low profile keyboard
-Nice design
-Good connectivity (range)

A full review, will come after I start using it in lectures and testing its capabilities with my S3.

Hope you enjoyed the unboxing, pictures & the initial impressions!

Comparison & review of 3 portable amplifiers: FiiO E11 / Soundmagic A10 / DigiZoid ZO2

Introduction

What started off by a 1 line sentence to a PM, ended up being a review
I don’t have much experience with amps – apart from the FiiO E1, E3, E5, and nor do I have that much “burn-in” time with all these amps – but thought to share my opinions. Of course they might change, but I doubt it.

I was in the “market” for a portable amp. Now when I mean portable, I mean it. I didn’t want to be carrying around a E7 which is bigger and wider than my actual phone – this is not, for me at least, the definition of portable.
Its like saying headphones are more portable than IEM’s (like the Denon AH-D2000’s vs the Future Sonic Atrio M5/MG7’s)
